Traditional classical philosophies among most civilisations have recognized planet Earth as a living being.
The Greeks called it Gaia, a primordial divinity with the power to create harmonious beauty, mother of all life. Nature was considered pregnant with wisdom and intelligence.
The word "ecology" from the Greek, means "oikos" (house, habitat) and "logos" (science, knowledge). Ecology is the science of the house, the home, the habitat we live within.
The home of humanity is Earth. It is therefore necessary for humanity to maintain it, harmonize it, embellish it, just as much as our private homes.
