The Mayas, Masters of Time
Beginning with the origins of the Maya civilization we
will explore the importance
of their sacred calendar and geography. Their
intimate relationship with
the rhythms and forces of Nature allowed them to
transform
a tropical jungle of the Yucatan into splendid gardens.
Their
mythology (Popol Vuh) speaks to us of a universe in evolution
where life is a ceaseless
struggle between the opposite forces of nature,
often represented
through animal figures, bird feathers, serpents and
jaguars.
Ask the Mayas living today,
their
civilization has not disappeared,
it
is in transformation into a new era.
